| | | Looking further ahead... This thread is for anyone willing to predict and discuss the weather a few days ahead, whether they have looked at weather models to pick up trends, or whether they have studied TV or online forecasts
I'll start with my take on the coming week, partly influenced by weather models, and partly influenced by today's Countryfile forecast
It looks quite unsettled for more northern and western areas this coming week, with winds predominantly coming from the W or SW. It will get quite mild come the middle of the week, possibly hitting 15*C in places by Thursday. Most southern areas should be dry after midweek, and it will feel positively spring-like in any sunshine!

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... Well with the high pressure nosing in from the south this week, it could get frosty for some areas at night. It does look mild for the foreseeable future though. Plenty of time left though, snow is not uncommon in March or April |

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... I've had enough of this so called winter, I wouldn't mind if it was a hardcore winter with wads of snow but it's not. Roll on the spring and the ever elusive hunt for the Morels................ Not forgetting the St Georges shrooms, not one from my patch last year so hopefully we'll be in for a bumper crop!

Any snow in the next few days will be restricted to northernmost hills only

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... Well I have been looking at the latest UK Met Office model output, and things look pretty settled for the foreseeable future.
Any unsettled weather plaguing northern and western coasts should eventually clear during the remainder of this week, although some light rain and drizzle, of the stubborn sort, can never be ruled out for said areas.
The weekend looks increasingly dry and settled, with high pressure firmly in charge of our weather. Temperatures by day will be at, or just above average. Possibly becoming frosty at night in sheltered areas.
Next week continues in a similar vein, with high pressure pretty much on top of the UK, so you can expect dry, sunny weather, especially inland. Mild by day, cool or cold at night.
Later next week, things become less clear, and the forecast becomes less reliable, but it looks fairly likely that this high pressure will be difficult to shift, so it could well remain settled.
Time will tell...

It could concievably stay dry, but there are hints of unsettled conditions returning before next weekend.

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... It looks very unlikely Stewy, especially for your location. Cold weather looks unlikel;y at this stage, and if unsettled weather does return by next weekend, it will be associated with westerly or southwessterly winds, and temperatures will remain mild.
The high pressure that will bring us dry and fine weather up until then will give us cold nights when skies clear, but by day, temperatures will be on the mild side.
More like spring I'm afraid

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... Right I have a bit more information concerning next weeks weather.
The beginning of next week will follow on nicely from the weekend, with dry and bright conditions persisting. The best of the sunshine will be in the east, with western areas always prone to more cloud and the odd spot of drizzle, especially over hills.
The second half of next week sees a small change, with winds turning to southeasterlies, or easterlies. This means temperatures by day will fall a bit (max 8-10C), with night frosts possible for central and northern areas. There could be some rain heading up from the south or southeast come next weekend, but this is a long way off, so enjoy the dry weather for the time being!
The risk of snow for anywhere in the next 7 days is minimal, and there won't be much, if any, rain around either. If conditions do deteriorate come next weekend, any rain that does come in is likely to stay as rain, with only northernmost hills of Scotland possibly seeing any snow.

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... High pressure will be in charge for this weekend and next week, keeping all areas dry and bright, with variable amounts of cloud.
Nighttime temperatures will decrease though the week, with night frosts becoming harsher by the weekend (down to -5*C in places)
There is a sign that unsettled conditions will begin to return by next weekend.
Eastern areas are likely to see the most sunshine in the next 7 days, bu also it will be chilly here, with max temps dropping through the week. Maxes of only 5*C are possible by next weekend. Much warmer in the SW, temps up to 13*C.

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... Amazingly, the rest of the week looks like staying dry for much of the UK. There will be some mist and fog around for some occasionally, possibly accompanied by drizzle, but no significant rainfall to speak of
The exceptionally mild temperatures of late will not last, as cooler air from the continent will feed in through the next few days. Despite this, it will feel mild in any sunshine, but nights will remain cold and frosty under clear skies.
Next week looks dry for most, with early signs of unsettled weather making a comeback in the west later on next week. This is a long way away though folks, and it keeps getting put back. Don't bet against another dry 7 days ahead

No snow for the foreseeable future I'm afraid
There is potential for colder weather to develop in the first week of March, but that is so far away it is best not to get excited about it, as it WILL change. I'm afraid the most likely scenario is a continuation of average to above-average temperatures for the remaining weeks of winter.
Any colder spells will be an unlikely bonus IMO.
On the plus side, this looks like one of the driest February's in a long time |

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... Hello folks
The weekend and the first half of next week looks mainly dry for much of the UK. The only wintry element that is noticeable at the moment is the nighttime temperatures, which will drop as low as -8*C in countryside areas tonight
So after a nice weekend, next week will start similar, with fair weather conditions in the day, and cold and frosty weather at night, with mist and fog in places.
Later in the week and winds turn more SW'ly, meaning that temperatures will increase, with maxes up to 15*C hy Thursday. Unfortunately, the mild weather will also bring rain with it, especially for northern & western areas. Some places in the south and east could stay dry until the weekend.
There is the risk of more widespread heavy rain by next weekend.

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... By now you may have noticed that the beautiful frosty/rimey days of late have now been consigned to the history books.
Things are a lot more mobile now, with weather fronts keen to cross the country in the coming few days.
Everywhere will see rain at some point, although the best place to be to avoid the rain is the SE, and the NW will see the most rain. it could become windy too in places, but to be honest, it could be worse, and many places will see plenty of dry weather in between, even if it isn't particularly sunny.
Temperatures are well on the up, possibly 18C by the weekend in places, more likely 12-16C.
Have a nice weekend |

| | | Re: Looking further ahead... Interesting weather at the moment, with the risk of damaging winds in places over the coming few days
Also the risk of snow for higher ground of Scotland and Northern England too, as temperatures dip later this weekend
Netweather are going for a colder than average March, which is interesting. Is winter going to take a last swipe at us??
