Something strange about this rain. It's very 'gritty'. I wonder what else the droplets are bringing down with it! Wonder if there's been some of the Sahara desert hanging around up in the atmosphere?

Doesn't need to be from the Sahara - winds here are stirring up everything from sands on the heaths to grit in the local park: serious clouds of dust there! Doubtless some of it is getting towards you ....

Wet and windy in Essex too but am fed up with Bank Holiday TV and am beginning to eat for something to do so have decided to go out with waterproofs (not very flattering), wellies (hard to walk in), wide brimmed hat (probably get blown off in wind) and camera! Cannot sit here any longer and there must be something to take a picture of.

Can always retire to pub after.

Was bright and blowin a hooley this morning in south Lancs. . . gone dull this aft and wind dropped a tad - probably not as gale force as yesterday was at Southport - talk about sand blown'!

But frankly my dears I don't give a damn - cos I have to turn up at work at 1740hours till 2130hrs - so if its raining by then I won't be cryin' Its ok doing a late late - I get jobs done and come on here but basically I'm just clock watching waiting to go to work and hoping that there arn't too many problems need sorting when I arrive!

Still no rain here just cloudy and windy, I've heard that some moorland fires have been triggered not far from here, I guess it was only a matter of time.

The weather up here has been terrific this past week or so no rain so maybe the North of the country is going to get the weather you normally enjoy in the south for a change maybe the planet has turned upside down and we are going to get the good stuff we should be so lucky

We are in the middle of an amazing thunder storm at the moment. They get stuck in the valley here, and roll around for hours like fire crackers in a skittle alley, and the continuous rumbling and flashing is really exhausting. Betsy my dog is very anxious. Hopefully it will escape soon.
It went quiet just then but tiptoed back behind me and suddenly banged two huge tin trays together. Hah! Ya don't scare me!
I hope the Badgers are safely tucked up in bed. I nearly tripped over one last night that stepped out right in front of me in the dark, stared down at my feet, and turned quietly round and stepped back into the undergrowth. Betsy fortunately didn't see.

I was woken up a bit before 5am by a thunderstorm. The dog went frantic so I had to sit with her... am now feeling like returning to bed.

We had a thunderstorm last night,though the lightning seemed to be over the estuary towards Kent.At the moment it is overcast and cool,but have a feeling it could get a bit humid later on perhaps triggering of more storms.Will be taking the dog out later and just know he is going to come back muddy!!!This rain has turned a lot of the footpaths into bogs down the country park!

Recently, the rain has been miserable, but, today, I actually ran around in it, and enjoyed it!!

The thunderstorm hit last night at 1am. The rain has been lashing down or drizzling ever since - until now. Blue sky at last.

Yeah - we have sunshine again at last Hopefully it will keep it up as I'm going riding again tomorrow - a two hour hack in the morning through the woods at Wenlock Edge

Fantastic morning weather-wise, sunshine, hot and lovely and I was stuck at work.
Just got home and a very ominous, grey/yellow cloud is working its way towards me, typical!
Very muggy too
