Thanks nightshade. We've actually built a software section for the site that we'll put up at the beginning of next week, so if you've got any more wildlife, outdoor, environment software links then post them here and we'll include them in the pages.

Lots of categories covered, from astronomy and weather to trees and birds etc. Mainly database or educational software, but we'll consider listing all types.

Whilst I think of it, we've been looking for good weather forecast program that we can add to these web pages, but after quite a lengthy search last year, we found them to be either very basic. more international than UK, or extremely expensive.

However, things may have changed since then, so if anyone knows of a suitable website weather program then please let us know and we'll see if we can incorporate a daily forecasting feature on wildaboutbritain.co.uk

Some desirable features could include:

Forecasts at local level, i.e. most towns in the UK, as opposed to just the major 15 cities.
Ability for visitors to set their region and have cookies store their preference for future visits to the web site.
5-day forecast
No adverts
Modern/customisable interface design
Free

The weather site I mentioned does local, national, international, monthly, weekly. daily, hourly.
It also gives sunrise, sunset, temp. ,humidity dew point,wind speed
A very worthy inclusion ,it also updates regularlyautomatically or manually

Hi Nightshade,

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an online version of Weather Watcher that we cna put on wildaboutbritain.co.uk. It appears as though there was talk of a .NET version being made a few years ago, I can't find it anywhere and ideally we need a .php or javascript version for this site. Alternatively, we could use a flash/ shockwave weather forecaster, if there is such a thing?

I'm using Weather Watcher on my desktop and it's absolutely superb, with tons of features, info and good graphics. To be able to put something like this on the site would be absolutely perfect.
