| | | Home remedy for sunburn Seeing as how we might actually have a summer, I thought I'd pass this tip on.
Being fair skinned, I sunburn easily. A few years ago I discovered, quite by chance, that cucumber juice is an extremely effective treatment; both soothing and healing.
Cut a chunk off the end of a cuke, score the cut face with a knife, squeeze gently to break the cells, and gently dab the juice onto the affected area. I don't know if this is an established herbal remedy, but it's at least as effective as Calamine lotion, and 100% less messy.
Enjoy

PS Don't take it straight from the fridge!

| | | Re: Home remedy for sunburn Lavendar oil is good too, but it must be the pure Lavandula officinalis. If it's only a small patch you can dab it on neat with cotton wool, but if you've cooked yourself all over then run a tepid bath and add 10 drops of lavender and soak for half an hour

a number of small ones would be ok | I'm trying to visualise a catering sized/head sized tea-bag. I bet that makes a stonking cuppa! Just right for my humugous 'Piglet Mug' (I think they were going for ironic humour with the size of this thing - nearly as big as my face ).

| | | Re: Home remedy for sunburn Sorry to dampen the humour but the best remedy of all is avoidance although I realise that we all get caught out occasionally. Eight years ago I had to have five cancerous lesions treated with 450,000 volts of x-ray for four minutes at a time, this was repeated three times over as many weeks. I was fortunate that I had the most easily treated kind, Basal Cell Carcinomas, and they were all cured but made some rather nasty scars. I now have three new lesions which are due for treatment soon. All of this was the result of being a keen gardener some 20 - 30 years earlier.
Just to lighten the tone again I suggest that all female Wabbers should be issued with the kind of bonnets that victorian ladies wore to harvest, and all male Wabbers should have a sombrero |
