Bank Holiday "Splash"

It finally stopped raining after around 48 hours.

Rainfall totals (as recorded by myself) were 105mm at my location in NW Surrey.

Thats quite a splash!

Did anyone beat that?

77mm here so not as much as you. Has been really miserable - so heavy at time a lot of my plants are bent double

Supposed to rain again tomorrow as well.........................

Minimum of 115mm here - was a bit more, but the rain gauge overflowed in the night so we didn't get a full measurement

Did for the flowers on my favourite peony, sadly. All the petals were dashed off. Some of the verbascum spikes are going to be an interesting shape as well. All the birds seem to have dried off reasonably well.

I had to rescue a young Collared Dove that become waterlogged, was cold and in danger of succumbing.

Bought it inside and allowed it to dry off.

here is the story and the pictures:

"I had to intevene today and help this little chap.

It is a young Collared Dove that I found waterlogged and unable to fly.

It was not only wet but it was shivering (or shaking) with cold.

I was keeping an eye on it but it was in a bad way so I made the decision to act.

I bought in inside and so that it could dry and warm up.

It is currently inside my cat carrier (funny enough) and appears to be ok.

Tomorrow morning I shall release it.

Incase you are wondering it is completely calm."

Edit: The Dove has since been released back into the wild.
