People are individual and your ability to attract and repel is different and individual - there is no wrong or right in this - its how humans are made.
Stuff filmed for television is just that - its created - the situation and the thing you want to show is stage managed to a greater or lesser degree. Presenting is acting in order to show or tell the story. What the presenter does when they are actually doing something without a camera there is natural and unscripted and they may be good at it or lousy at it - just like the rest of us!
As for weight - speaking as someone who is overweight in the same chunky way - I can state that altho its a nuisance having a big belly - if you're unfortunate enough to have one you have to live with it and it either prevents you from doing something - or you (read I!) get out of breath and very unattractive looking trying to do something with my belly calling the shots! It doesn't stop me from carrying a very heavy pack (it does give me a bad back!) and my weight doesn't stop me from walking when I really want to go somewhere - it does give me knee strain and cause my arches to fall and ache like blazes! So don't judge us lumps of lard cos its surprising what we can do when we want to! And I have just lost a stone and three quarters during this latest illness but getting weight off is not easy for everyone and some peoples 'template' is not thin and rangy ...........
Pauline | Who mentioned Alex Jones..
Good god please tell me she is not in this..
Its not that I don;t like the woman, I just cant watch anything she is in..
I just don;t like her style or Matt Baker for that matter either they are the reason I don;t watch the one show.
I believe its an age thing you do get more intolerant as you get older hence the grumpy old men/women program..
So you young uns who think we are being over critical you wait your time will come..
PS..you only have to look at Jim... |

| | | Re: Wild Britain Ray Mears Can all those people who criticise RM's weight be aware that he contracted Lymes desease a few years back which affects him quite badly in this area and there is nothing he can do about it. Although I fail to see how his weight has anything to do with knowledge or programme making, and snarky comments about peoples looks and build should have stopped when they left school |

I was just quoting what others have said in the past and is not my personal opinion..
just to clear that up.. |

| | | Re: Wild Britain Ray Mears I don't recall watching Ray Mears before, but I'm intending to watch tonight as he's in an area I'm quite familiar with. In fact I drove past him and his film crew in part of that area earlier this year.
As for the Lyme disease, he has my sympathy, I've a friend who was very ill with it before there was the awareness there is now and my husband had it last year, luckily caught quite quickly and treated. I've also got a couple of weeks to go before being re-tested after a tick bite reacted. The first test was negative, but it can take up to 8 weeks for a test to show positive.
Regards, Audrey. |

Also, from the way he carries it on camera, I suspect his rucksack is stuffed with foam or similar. It's not a matter of strength - a heavy rucksack tends to dominate your movement such that it shows.
Jim | He speaks highly of you too Jim

One of the better 'wildlife programmes' I have watched in recent times.
However I then went on to watch 'Autumn Watch' and must say that this I also enjoyed. It appeared to me that there was more dedication and more time spent on the wildlife/nature than in previous episodes.

| | | Re: Wild Britain Ray Mears I enjoyed this as well, very interesting and well presented. Just a couple of factual errors that crept in, but pretty good.
