Regards, Audrey. | That is just appalling - and so absolutely bloody typical. Sorry, but I have lived there (and was married to an American), so I should know. They completely have their heads in the sand regarding climate change, and are among the worst offenders. Oh, how infuriating. |

| | | Re: Frozen Planet! There is a very interesting article in to-days Sunday Express on Huggies the polar bear, mother of the bear cubs which were shown in the recent series of the 'Frozen Planet'.
It appears Huggies (who is sponsored by Kimberly Clark the maker of 'Huggies nappies) was taken into care as a lonely cub, found wandering around without its parents in Russia some 15 years ago.
She was eventually transferred to an animal park near Amsterdam, where she has lived ever since. During this period she has produced several cubs that have been sent on to various zoos and wildlife parks.
The BBC filmed her with her three cubs in 2009. Two of three cubs have since died and the third transferred to the wildlife park at Kincraig, Inverness-shire.
Very interesting, but it would have been better for the bears if they could have lived in their natural environment within the 'Frozen Planet.

I think there's little doubt where the public opinion places Sir David. I,for one, don't give a tin s**t where he got his footage or who obtained it in his name. He is the single most effective activist and latterly, figurehead,in the name of naturalism and conservation that this nation and perhaps this world has produced. Rock on I say.

Art is derived from artifice and artifice has been accepted and acceptable for centuries as a tool for instruction and enlightenment. The hackneyed but apt example is the use of pinhole images to assist in the production of ''life'' portraiture. The ends often justify the means and in my humble opinion they're justified here.

| | | Re: Frozen Planet! Sat watching this series every week with my 6 year old little girl and she was mesmerised. She couldn't wait for her 'fix'. Such a nice experience sat with her on my knee seeing her various expressions and delight with each episode. If this helps her appreciate and enjoy such nature as much as it appears to have, and inspires her to want more in the future, then I for one am extremely grateful to David Attenborough and co. I'm not bothered about such 'fraudulent' filming of polar bear cubs, etc. The series has touched our family regardless |

| | | Re: Frozen Planet! This illustrates how 'Walker', one of the bear cubs, which featured on Frozen Planet is living these days.
I wonder if he would have chosen a different life more like that which the programme was trying to depict instead of living alone in such surroundings. BBC News - Polar bear Walker lured on scales with mackerel
