Liz was a great presenter. Sadly I missed the second week of programmes as I was away, but a fun series with lots of new insights. Loved the Natterjacks! Good to see herps getting a decent crack of the whip + even a few orchids creeping in- don't think I've seen Coralroot Orchid on the box before!

Excellent final show, Liz what's-her-name is a great presenter and should take over from Kate for Autumnwatch.

I kind of guessed that might be why, not heard any of these rumors though myself.

More rumour mills are saying she will be filming for another TV series in a different part of the world.

I was going to post saying that i thought her depth of knowledge might be a bit shallow (Kate Humble knows the answers to all the questions she asks Chris Packham, she just plays the layman for the audience's benefit), but Liz Bonnin actually has a good CV for the job:

She has a Bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Trinity College, Dublin[1] and also holds a Master's in Wild Animal Biology from the Zoological Society of London and the Royal Veterinary College (2008), for which she tracked tigers in Nepal.[2][3] She continues to work on big cat conservation programmes at the Zoological Society.

She seemed to be struggling with the ad-libbed questions, which made me wonder if she wasn't exactly hired for her knowledge.

I think Kate Humble is on record saying that she doesn't want children. Although if she does then it would be now, I suppose. Although she does have a full CV too, and a rising BBC profile, so she might be off a bigger project.

I do like Humble as a presenter in this format (you can keep the Spice Trail, thanks!), but the show can survive without her. The tide seems to be turning on nature/wildlife TV, which has been on the crest of a wave for the past few years. There's signs that it's falling out of TV fashion and conservation/wildlife is getting a few attacks (Unnatural Histories, Dispatches tonight, the recent Welly Telly docu), so we might be seeing things on the wane.

Am I the only one who remembers the Tony Soper 'real time' marathon shows though? Springwatch as a concept isn't that new and it will probably come back again at some point.
