| | | Re: Attenborough and the Giant Egg He really is one in a million. I am old enough to remember watching all the Zoo Quest programmes on TV, and I think my admiration for his infectious enthusiasm started then.
Many years later I was lucky enough to be introduced to him when he was about to publish Life on Earth, and I had to make a positive effort not to glance down to see if he was wearing his trademark shorts.
His home in Richmond has a wonderful assortment of precious objects he has collected over the years, including, of course, the egg. |

| | | Re: Attenborough and the Giant Egg It was a very interesting programme, quite wistful in some ways. Good to see re-evaluation of the values of the past, but I do think he was a bit hard on his past self for collecting back then, maybe if the collections hadn't been made, the current interest would not be as great. It is easy to forget that many photos taken by even well skilled and respected photographers wouldn't even be kept by most people nowadays. No colour, 425 line tele, you got very little idea of what was what.
He did seem a person who was happy with where he is nowadays, great presenter and naturalists. I have got the programme saved to watch again, wish I had left it on for the history programme after too.

| | | Re: Attenborough and the Giant Egg I 'IPlayered' it today and thought it was a brilliant show.... again of course.... I definitely share his love for the country though I rather dread to think what it might be like if I returned after 50 years....

| | | Re: Attenborough and the Giant Egg It was really nice to see the Great Man actually walking and talking on screen rather than just doing a voiceover.
