Awful.... | I think this is what is not clear to most people Jill. The quota system appears to the general public as a way to conserve vulnerable species , which it isn't.
As was shown last night, it only means that the cod can't be landed and sold when they have reached their quota and must go back.They are all dead too (species with swim bladders) mainly because of the quick pressure change they go through when brought up from the depths.Such as the skate we saw went back alive & OK.
I think maybe a lot of people thought that many of the fish could be sent back alive.
