Just when I think I know all there is to know about British Lepidoptera...The BBC Natural History Dept once again blows me away with new stuff I didn't know. So so much more to learn about these amazing creatures!

| | | Re: Natural World- British Butterflies!!! 8pm tonight bbc2 !=) Ok just caught up with all your views on the other thread regarding this program.
In my absence I had foolishly forgotten how impossible to please most WAB'ers are?
Oh well, I enjoyed it....yes it had too much tattoos and carnival and odball mavericks....but some of the best footage I have seen of larvae/mimicry and chrysalis etc....I really enjoyed it.

Personally I think it is a very cleaver piece of marketing going by the feedback of the kids response, as my kids are grown up people with no kids dont get an insight in to the reactions programs like this have on kids and I think it was a positive move in keeping the kids interested.
I enjoyed the program too and will be watching it again on iplayer sometime soon.. |

| | | Re: Natural World- British Butterflies!!! 8pm tonight bbc2 !=) Totally spoilt by the narration by Imelda Staunton!
She's a fine actress, but her soft voice dropping to a near inaudible breathy whisper on occasions, had me straining to hear her over the background music.
It was also pretty thin on content and I almost gave up at one point. I'm glad I didn't bother to record it!

| | | Re: Natural World- British Butterflies!!! 8pm tonight bbc2 !=) As a bit of entertaining television on a Friday night, it was great!
And as a programme aimed at educating and enthusing the general public about how wonderful butterflies are I think it was very well put together.
Enthusiasts would also have learnt new things I'm sure. Sure, they would have liked more detailed information and less of the 'butterflies in society' aspect - but it wasn't aimed at them.
As ever, unbelievable photography.
Thank you BBC! |

Lets have more like it, not that I pay their TV licence

| | | Re: Natural World- British Butterflies!!! 8pm tonight bbc2 !=) i thought it was very good, but some of the people on it were a bit annoying... the actual natural history bits were good though, especially when they were covering what happens overwinter
