| | | Re: Twitching on BBC4 Each to their own and i am too long in the tooth to get upset if people get off by ticking lists and have a very real passion for what they do.
What i do get upset by is if the bird is disturbed to the point it cannot feed or rest or habitat or property is damaged in the process of seeing the bird. Like them or not Twitchers are part and parcel of the Birding scene in the UK and elsewhere and they are here to stay and with many species in decline i imagine twitching intensity will only develop further.
I am not a Twitcher by the way but will go to see a rare or very scarce bird if it arrives within ten miles of my place and stays for a while thats if i am not too busy but would much prefer to patchwatch and try and find my own scarce birds even if they are only scarce on my local patches
If anyone has a copy of the programme on dvd they wouldnt mind letting me have i will pay for the cost of making a copy and the postage and would like it to add to my collection of all things birding related on film. |

| | | Re: Twitching on BBC4 I haven't checked this, but according to a post on another forum:
"That birding programme "Twitchers" is, incidentally, being repeated on Monday evening at 7.30 on BBC4."
Don't know if that helps, Darrenm?

| | | Re: Twitching on BBC4 thanks for the info
and will now try and work out how to copy it onto disc.
No doubt it will cause another flurry of feathers and snapping of bills amongst some Birders who didnt get to see it first time round
What we really need on mainstream TV now is something new that really captures the public imagination and brings a new generation into Birding and Wildlife watching .
Springwatch and Autumnwatch are superb but we need to get more bums off seats and into the field. Tv can be a very powerfull tool in helping Conservation and more people who become active the greater chances of being able to fund and maintain existing projects and devloping future ones. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
