| | | Re: Ray Mears Wild Britain This is for the guys out there that criticise Ray Mears. He is doing a job outdoors in the wild spaces of Britain that he clearly loves. And I haven't even started on the fact that he is remarkably well off and also attractive to the opposite sex as these are not particularly suitable topics for discussion. To the people that rubbish him all the time - have you got it that good?

I mean, I bet he doesn't know as much as me about the remaining X Factor candidates for a start.

| | | Re: Ray Mears Wild Britain "and also attractive to the opposite sex" I know you love Ray Debs But he just doesn't do "it" of me....sorry...he ticks some boxes (knowledge, outdoor skills, wildlife...etc..) but not all. Obviously if I was stranded on a remote island then I would want him in my survival pack. However, as chris says..... Quote:

Chris | this has something to do with it....every day life stuff......somehow Ray seems a bit detached from this, and so very very serious, which might be a good thing, but I just don't fancy spending the evening in the pub with him.....and he would probably deffo not want to spend it with me either I suppose! (Had to get that in before someone else does! ) However....I would like to spend the evening in the pub with......"The Amazon" team.....that would be....well....Fantastic, a dream come true!!

| | | Re: Ray Mears Wild Britain I think I just feel a bit deflated with some of the current 'cyclops' wildlife stuff and to be honest, I'm not exactly sure why, though a lot of it does seem somewhat superficial and bland. Ray Mears (as much as I like his wild foods type stuff) has left me cold and Autumnwatch has proved a big disappointment, though I suspect this has a lot to do with the lack of Simon King.
Birds Britannia is excellent though as it goes a little bit deeper. What I want to see is something with real 'oomph', something along the lines of Natural World's Earth Pilgrim, with Satish Kumar, or that stunning programme I saw recently that focussed on Loch Maree and it's adjacent areas, awash with black throated divers, pine martens and white-tailed eagles.
I think I need another holiday up Scotland.....sigh.

Chris | I've watched it three times and would watch it again. It is beautifully shot and he has a wonderful calmness about him. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
