| | | Halcyon River Diaries An early heads-up for Dan Salter and everyone else that loved the BBC Natural World film "My Halcyon River".
Charlie Hamilton James and wife Phillipa Forrester who made the original film are currently making a four part series "Halcyon River Diaries" for the BBC and its due to be aired this spring (haven't seen any dates yet). It will tell the story of a year on the river outside their house getting to know the local wildlife.
If its anything like the stunning My Halcyon River or any of their other productions, it should be well worth a watch.

I saw your thread My Halcyon River (Natural World 25 years) and share your enthusiasm and love for the film.
I understand there will be a book to accompany the series (isn't there always ). If its anything like his kingfisher book it should be worth looking out for.

| | | Re: Halcyon River Diaries Have just watched this & thought it was lovely. Funny too, just see his exasperation when his children would rather play mariocarts rather than watch the kingfishers predating his 'aquarium'.

| | | Re: Halcyon River Diaries I agree. Looking like it will be a lovely little series. Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode and looking forward to next weeks. Series linked - Gotta love Sky+, never miss another minute! Shame it wasn't on BBC HD though That would have just topped it off nicely. Still, a really enjoyable doc |

| | | Re: Halcyon River Diaries Wasn't where they lived an awful looking place to have to put up with,I mean who wants all that peace and quiet and wildlife all on your doorstep I'd rather have cars and factories to look at than kingfishers and otters any day,I'm definitley not jealous

| | | Re: Halcyon River Diaries Just watched this tonight (recorded last night whilst watching England beat the Aussies at cricket ).
Lovely programme, made all the more enjoyable seeing the interaction with their kids. Nice to see so many wildlife/countryside progs on at the moment. The Titchmarsh one of the other side after this is good too, and Oddie is back. Springwatch coming in a couple of weeks! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
