However....it is very very similar to the not so long ago BBC/Dr Ian Stewart series 'Earth: The Power of the Planet.....i should imagine re using much of the same footage which seems to be a bit common now among new BBC Natural History series sadly. However it WAS interesting and i learnt some new facts which is what it is all about

| | | Re: BBc2 - How Earth Made Us I watched it too on a mate's tv. Tbh, I wasn't overly impressed. The presenter I found rather tedious and the 'whispering' type voice you'd perhaps associate with Sir David hiding in bushes looking at wildlife, seemed inappropriate for describing/presenting the incredible forces of nature - the continuous muzac was an added irritation. The camera work and computer graphics imo fell far behind what the BBC have been capable of in recent years - perhaps I've been spoilt by the fantastic 'Life on Earth' series.
I agree, with Dan, I learned some interesting facts especially to do with formation of metals from core minerals etc but the rest wasn't very groundbreaking. (well obviously it was but not in an information sense!! lol) The most interesting to me was the Minoan/Crete aspect of civilisation along with Iron Age and Bronze Age developments. However, it was all a little too ambitious within such a short space of time to cover so much and ended up being rather skimpy in depth and too dumbed down for my liking.
(I enjoyed the Dog Handlers programme just before it much better actually!) |

| | | Re: BBc2 - How Earth Made Us Hmmmm...i dont think i disliked it quite as much as you? ha ha....i just thought i would mention the BBC current trend of re using footage in their 'new' series.
Anyway....i really like Dr Ian Stewart...always have...lets just see how the rest of the series pans out.
