| | The One Show ...... I watch telly and sometimes think I've never heard such a load of rubbish - then tonight I hear something even dafter ....... and its the second time the One Show has caused me offence - we stopped watching and boycotted it for almost 12 months after the Nigella/bear killing/fur coat/animals skinned alive interview.... then we've drifted back this past couple of months cos its tea time and it follows the northwest news .........
I can't imagine what the BBC are thinking of allowing this programme to suggest such a thing? If it was April the first I'd have laughed - but no they are serious. And the subject is the link between global warming and vegetarianism - Lucy one of the reporters for the show has been allowed to do a peice to camera saying that everyone should become vegetarian because cows belch and fart into the atmosphere and are causing more global warming than anything else ....... And she was serious - cos she's a veggie she can't see any reason why the whole of Britain - everyone shouldn't do the same ........ Lucy its time you got off the cereals and pulses and had some protein - fish might be a good start as you're brain is starving and you are talking rubbish and thinking it sounds clever .......
And what exactly are all the farmers going to do when their livelihoods have been taken from them? And all the other businesses that depend on the meat and milk business? Tell you what we will suggest that they rip all the hedges and woods up in Britain and plant cereals on every inch of green land left - that should solve the problem of what farmers can do for a living when we've slaughtered all their livestock ..........
Another case of Londeners not knowing how much farming countryside there actually is in Britain - its time to stop thinking Hampstead Heath and Regents Park are typical countryside folks and come out of the city - take a proper look at this country and how it works and what it constitutes .........

| | | Re: The One Show ...... If we all became veggie then these animals would live for years to come and breed producing more of them thus increasing the problem as we become over-run we livestock roaming the streets. Greenhouse gases would go through the roof and we would all be DOOMED!!!!!
Eat moremeat and save the planet !

| | | Re: The One Show ...... It's kind of sad that the message that people should try (for health reasons etc as well as environmental etc) to go one day a week without meat got lost in the report though.

| | | Re: The One Show ...... I work in the Dairy Industry, funny but we were talking about this subject today. We are currently liaising with a group of scientists that are working on a new type of feed that will reduce methane emissions from cows. This is normally the point were I come up with a punchline but it's true.
They are also working on a laser device which can be pointed at a cow's rear end and measures the amount of methane produced.
Honestly. |

| | | Re: The One Show ...... Gonna get me a big plough; moors, fells and downs here I come. Scratch those sheep off the uplands, turf those suckler cows off the rough land they keep as valuable habitats, don't use ruminants to get the best from winter root crops.
Say goodbye to biodiversity.
