| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time On balence (and I deliberately missed last week cos I found it so annoying the week before) but I risked it again last night and thought it was possible that they have been asked to just tone it down a little - camaradarie is fine - but Kate getting silly and shreiky just gets on my nerves - and I do actually like her but if I was a friend or working with her I'd have to suggest she toned it down just a bit ......... Chris Packham does manage to joke without going over the top and has settled down in middle age - he came over very arrogant when he was a young chap - he prob didn't mean to. The other chappie - well - I know its unfair to pick on folks mannerisms and I too rely on reading glasses and sometimes put them up on my head - but for goodness sake - keep getting his glasses tangled in all that hair - sorry - but its an affectation that some misguided person must have said would look good - it doesn't - its just annoying and if I was sat next to him I would slap his hand after the 6th or 7th time of whipping them on and off his head - either that or produce scissors and get rid of the hair ........... |

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time No, keep the hair but buy some varifocal glasses with plain glass at the top if he doesn't need specs for distance! I thought it was just me being over-grumpy getting annoyed by the constant ups and downs of the glasses.

It's repeated today in all English ITV regions at least + Wales at 6:45pm.

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time Well I don't care what anyone says, I'm loving this series and so are many others looking at the viewing figures.
As for Chris P's in jokes, his T-shirts refer to sci-fi films and the back of his cards refer to some of the greatest indie albums of all time (Psycho Candy- The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses). I can only remember his Nostromo T-shirt at the moment (Nostromo was the name of the space ship in Alien) but if anybody wants any others explained, let me know, I'm an uber-geek |

Cheer up the bloody lot of you!...one day...the bbc is going to listen to all you moaners and nit pickers and take all widlife off the tv for good....and THEN you really will be moaning!
Simon, Chris, Gordan are all very intelligent, knowledgable naturalists...Kate is a very likeable and experienced presenter. Some of us 30 somethings even fancy her...some of you 30 something women may even fancy Chris?....who gives two hoots if they flirt a bit? you all wanna thank your lucky stars im not a presenter on AW as i would be 20 times worse!....who do you want?....Charlie Chaplin and Hilda Ogden? would that suit you people more?...lol or maybe a Vicar and mother teresa?
Yeah she giggles, yeah the long haired one is irritating....but how great was the sparrowhawk drowning the magpie?.....who has ever seen a kingfisher pellet?, how nice was simons front room??!....I love SW and AW for all its faults....and i am positively sad in between times when neither is on tv...

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time Great post Dan.
What's with the age limits of thirty-something on fancying Chris Packham, though? I liked Simon's living room too, lovely taste, though that fire would be a nightmare with small children around.
If parrots can use language accurately in context (much evidence that they can for example, the other day I heard a parrot in the local pet shop telling the cockatoo pecking him to "stop it!") I'm almost positive that sparrowhawks have the nous to drown birds.
It was such an enjoyable prog on Friday and now it's all ending, c'est la vie. |
