| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time I thought the programme last night was the best yet. I also think that it would be a great idea to have a Winter Watch programme letting people know that even in the dpeths of winter, it's possible to see plenty of wildlife.
I'm looking forward to the next programme which has Kate and Chris visiting the Cairngorms. Unless it all melts, there is a bit of snow on the tops which has moved a bit lower during the last week. |

Simon, Chris, Gordan are all very intelligent, knowledgable naturalists...Kate is a very likeable and experienced presenter. I remember Autumnwatch showing what happened when a dog got to close with Martin's photos and then Simon giving advice on not getting to close etc. Cant blame autumnwatch for the plague of our parks: idiots with dogs! |

I was completely gobsmacked to hear that there are now 440 ospreys breeding in the UK. I thought there were still just a couple of heavily guarded sites in Scotland plus the pair at Rutland Water. Never dreamed there were that many!

Dave P. | It's a great success story, and I'm lucky enough to live right in the middle of an Osprey stronghold. In the summer when I'm out and about, it isn't that unusual to see an Osprey fishing, although I'm never fast enough with the camera to get a good shot. I think there are a lot more nest sites around this area than the obvious Loch Garten site, but people tend to keep them fairly quiet. |

Countryfile is a far better programme in my opinion as all its time is spent on the main subject 'country life' without all the hilarity we have now to put up with on Autumnwatch.
John D[/quote]
Countryfile is about the countrylife.Autumnwatch/Springwatch is about wildlife.Big difference

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time Dan, I could't agree more mate. I'm new here and also a bit surprised by some of the 'aggressive' responses and attitudes. I've met some lovely people on here but there are others that I wouldn't want to meet down a dark alley on a winters night Have to say too, Simon's lounge was lovely wasn't it? The guy with the long hair is begining to grow on me now and I'd rather watch this program all year round than watch one more minute of Simongate and Jedward!!! Dan, stick around mate, we need all the nice people we can get - Wizzo |

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time Dave & Earthdragon, hiya. At one time, here in Bristol, Osprey were rarely spotted on Blagdon and Chew Valley lakes. They would be spotted by some lucky spotters or Trout fishermen, as the bird or birds (assuming a pair) would stay in the area for a while, on their way to somewhere else, presumably Africa. Now they build platforms for the Osprey on both lakes. I'm told that they are resident now, but would that still mean they travel to Africa for the winter? As a fairly novice birdwatcher, I count myself extremely lucky to have seen one of these magnificant birds whilst walking my dogs. Phew, breathtaking |
