OK, but what has got to do with wildlife, nature and 'Autumn Watch'. There's enough comedy on TV without these pair joining the 'comedian brigade'.
Countryfile is a far better programme in my opinion as all its time is spent on the main subject 'country life' without all the hilarity we have now to put up with on Autumnwatch.

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time Well I still really like it, I like Chris and I like Kate and well all of them really - though I wish the new hairy chap (Martin is it?) would perhaps snigger less p- I think its a nervous things but its still a little annoying.
And I still think Kate is largely playing the part of someone who perhaps doesn't know as much - asking the questions most of the general public would ask on their behalf. She's been doing things like this for a long time and a lot of marine stuff too - I find it very hard to believe that she's not picked a few things up in this time!
She seems like a lovely person I only hope she's not too hurt by some comments when she sees them.
I really like that they have decided to keep Chris's more scientific comments in - even if they have made it into a geeky comedy feature - I think this is ideal for those who instantly tune words out the second they start to sound scientific.
It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I love it - wish it was on at this time slot all through the year to cover all events. |

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time On reflection, I like Kate too. At least she's good to look at I don't think the new format is that bad really, when you look at the rubbish that's on TV, generally (I won't bore you with a list) and you hear all the language and the like, from 'so called' top chefs etc, it's a refreshing change to see some pleasent presenters on tv, even if they dont always know everything about everything. Kate and Chris have chemistry and I'm sure their partners aren't so narrow minded as to get jealous about a little harmless flirting. I agree 100% with you Gill - I love it and also wish it was on all year round.

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time On balence (and I deliberately missed last week cos I found it so annoying the week before) but I risked it again last night and thought it was possible that they have been asked to just tone it down a little - camaradarie is fine - but Kate getting silly and shreiky just gets on my nerves - and I do actually like her but if I was a friend or working with her I'd have to suggest she toned it down just a bit ......... Chris Packham does manage to joke without going over the top and has settled down in middle age - he came over very arrogant when he was a young chap - he prob didn't mean to. The other chappie - well - I know its unfair to pick on folks mannerisms and I too rely on reading glasses and sometimes put them up on my head - but for goodness sake - keep getting his glasses tangled in all that hair - sorry - but its an affectation that some misguided person must have said would look good - it doesn't - its just annoying and if I was sat next to him I would slap his hand after the 6th or 7th time of whipping them on and off his head - either that or produce scissors and get rid of the hair ........... |

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time No, keep the hair but buy some varifocal glasses with plain glass at the top if he doesn't need specs for distance! I thought it was just me being over-grumpy getting annoyed by the constant ups and downs of the glasses.
