| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time I think part of the problem with the deer rut is it plays on the idea that a lot of viewers will have, that wildlife is something that happens somewhere else, in other countries or on remote islands in the Hebrides.
One of the good things about Spring/Autumnwatch is emphasising to the uninitiated that wildlife is all around them. If they must have rutting deer, I think I would prefer it if it was Exmoor or southern Scotland, or even a deer park, where people can be inspired to see it for themselves. How many people are going to be inspired to head off to Rhum to see rutting deer? |

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time Not that I wish to spoil things for those watching Sat. but you'd be on the right track there. I think a lot of people must have used the Beeb forums to complain about the start time, Wabbers can't really claim all the credit. Gardener's World made some little jokes about people watching their programme at 10 o'clock before they go out clubbing, ho-ho.... |

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time I would prefer more of Simon King and Gordon Buchannan and less of the 'other two actors'. Both Simon and Gordon's contribution is wholey related to the real subject 'wildlife' and without all the unecessary 'blurb' that comes from the others.
Just MHO.

You may jest but when I was 18 and Geoff Hamilton was on gardeners world I used to watch it before I went out clubbing. I've always been a bit of a geek!
And I loved Autumnwatch last night, the banter is such fun. Did it seem to anyone else that there was a lot of flirting between Kate Humble and Chris Packham? |

It would be difficult to miss the flirting Susie. I just wish they would cut the double act and present the programme. It was bad enough with Bill Oddie

| | | Re: Autumnwatch on at a new time Never been as keen on autumnwatch as i am on springwatch. This years been different and i've found myself watching a bit more than usual. As for the presenters i've always liked Kate Humble, didn't mind Bill Oddie, (can just about remember watching him in the Goodies ) but really not keen on Chris Packham. Quote:

As for Geoff Hamilton. His got a lot to answer for. I used to watch him too. He taught me how to build a cold frames from pallets, make planters out of old household rubbish and how to garden. And because of that I spent 8 years running my own business selling plants!!! STRESS!!
