The new time is fine by me, I always mist the morning show because I was out and about doing other things. Like others recording a programme means it stays unwatched.

I also like it's new slot, I often missed it due to the time it was aired.
I read in this month's Countryfile magazine that another series 'Country Tracks' will be starting soon on a Sunday morning.
Sound interesting, if you don't mind more Ben Fogle!

I like the new slot as well, it means I actually go out and do something useful on a Sunday morning for a change rather than staying in front of the TV. It's a shame John Craven has gone though

No he hasn't gone, he just has a couple of new regular presenters and some that will come in from time to time. It may be the way of him leaving eventually, but, for now, he's still there.

What's wrong with Ben Fogle? Young, enthusiastic, easy on the eye......

I learned something too. I didn't know that the word ghyll came from Viking. They call the narrow streams that are cut into the rock around here ghylls too.

Same here, Susie. We even have a "Ghyllside Avenue" (which is self explanatory! )

The new time is good for me, I am often out during the day and Sunday evenings are generally poor on tv anyway.

It was a Nature program? Sorry, put Julia on the box doing football commentary or describing drying paint and I'd watch it. Didn't really see the rest.

Is it just me or is this program on how to use the countryside for your own means, whatever they may be? I've watched it twice now and felt a little uneasy both times, give me a 'proper' nature program everytime.

But the thing is its not a nature program, I don't think it ever has been really, it was originally for farmers and those with an interest in agriculture and it has expanded to include those who enjoy the countryside either for walking, boating, village pubs, fishing etc... There are relatively few inches of countryside that aren't used for someone's own means be it recreation or a living.

I really liked the series and really hope it helps to make the growing gap in culture between urbanites and countryfolk shrink a little
