Kate Humble on Countdown

Nothing to do with wildlife really but for those of you who are ardent fans of Kate Humble, she is in Dictionary Corner on Countdown all this week (3.25pm, Channel 4).

I'm not that much of a fan of Kate's tbh. I think she's great at presenting and I like some of her programmes but I'm not too sure where the male fanclub come from.

Countdown isn't the same anymore either, I've never really watched that much of it but I haven't watched once since they both left.

Actually I'm not that great a fan of Kate Humble myself, I just thought I'd mention it as I seemed to remember from other threads that some WABbers were somewhat fond of her.

I always watch Countdown if I'm home in the afternoon! I just think it's a great quiz show - I sit there with a pen and a used envelope, trying to beat the contestants in the words and numbers games.

As for Carol and Des leaving, yes that was a shame ... but the charming Susie Dent is still in Dictionary corner! Now if she ever left that really would be a disaster! (Now you know who's fan club I'm really in!)

Jeff Stelling (a popular Sky sports presenter, apparently) and Rachel Riley, a TV newcomer who is an Oxford maths graduate.

I think the new guys are doing a competent job - it would be unfair to expect them to immediately develop the same rapport with the audience that Carol developed over 20 years. It was always the quiz that appealed to me rather than the presenters (well, except for Susie Dent!) so I still enjoy the show.
