| | | re: Swarm: Nature's Incredible Invasions What about all those mice in Australia? Millions of them! A woman opened a door of her grain store and a kind of mouse waterfall erupted out of it.

| | | re: Swarm: Nature's Incredible Invasions the camera work is very good indeed but despite David Tennants lovely voice the narration seems like sensationalist rubbish to me. Starlings described as an 'urban menace'!! Only in a very few cases, Cicada's as an alien invention despite the fact that they probably evolved long before us. That they undergo an extraordinary transformation as they moult into their final stage - so 'extraordinary' that hundreds of thousands of species do it every year!
And the frequent reference to 'our world' and 'human world' like somehow just because we've built houses and roads that it isn't the world of insects and other animals as well!!
and is it just me or is there an awful lot of fake sound effects? The mice sounded more like budgies on the soundtrack!
If the camera work wasn't so go I'd have turned over by now!
Is this the beginning of the end of quality entertaining and educational documentaries and the beginning of the type of patronising sensationalist stuff you now get on National Geographic channels? God I hope not. |

| | | re: Swarm: Nature's Incredible Invasions If you like swarms I urge you to watch Baraka. I have seen this 6 times already, it never falters. Don't forget we are a part, not apart from the cosmos too!!!
