The programme does make me appreciate how well off I am. With five of us in the house there is a ton of washing as it is, if I had to do all that lot by hand it would be an absolute nightmare!

I imagine living that lifestyle would make you appreciate the simple things more and become very resourceful. I loved the basket made of oak and would love to learn how to do that.

Resurrecting an old thread, I'm thoroughly enjoying the repeats of this series, currently showing on Beeb 2. The presenters' dedication to detail was impressive - though I did wonder if they would step out of Victorian mode if the life of one of the animals was in danger. Last night we saw Alex treating a sheep's infected foot by simply applying a cotton and sacking dressing, I can't help wondering if a crafty puff of antibiotic powder went in too.... though honey would probably have worked just as well.
