| | | Re: BBC looking for Wildlife Enthusiasts & Photographers Just had mine today too- it went so quickly, and I didn't have a 2nd interview after the informal chat, they just said that I would hear before Christmas if I get through to the next bit..... so no initial yes's or no's like it seems they did in london- unless i didn't get through and they weren't telling people?!
confusing lol |

I wonder if Neil went... hope so and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him just in case.
Dave P. | I didnt go in the end Im afriad. They wouldnt have had my file, and i figured that would count against me, even if they let have an interview. Plus Im starting ajob soon and may not be able to see my gf much, and I only see her at weekends as it is, so didnt want to waste a day trying to beat 1000s of others when I suck at interviews! lol
Thanks for the kind words though - means alot
best of luck to those who got through the first stage

| | | Re: BBC looking for Wildlife Enthusiasts & Photographers Hey, I'm new to this site, essentially signed up because it was the only one I could find that had any useful sort of converstaion going on about the BBC interviews, sorry if you feel at all used! Thought the least I could do would be to give you some info on my interview.
I was in Manchester so it was a relief to hear from others that they didn't get a second interview on the day, the four or five people I talked to afterwards were under the impression that no-one did. In fact, I think the people interviewing were not affiiated with the programme and were probably specifically hired in to screen applicants; the one I was talking to said she had absolutely no interest in animals. From the questions she asked I thought they were looking for people with some previous experience of travelling and who genuinely wanted to work for the BBC at the end of it (and obviously a huge interest in animals, but that's probably taken for granted if you're being interviewed).
Surprised to hear from Nick that only (approx.) 50% of applicants got interviewed, they Emailed me back about three hours after I sent my application off so I assumed they were just screening them for certain words using some computer program, but maybe that's too cynical of me. Anyway, best of luck to everyone, hope that reassures anybody who went to the Manchester interview and thought they'd blown it by not having a second interview. |

| | | Re: BBC looking for Wildlife Enthusiasts & Photographers Someone from my work who was there in the afternoon said apparently a few people did get called back for a second interview, .... sorry to be the bearer of bad news... I have the feeling they realised that they already have enough for the next round so maybe only asked the odd one or two....funny though because I don't know how those interviewers would have made that decision...he asked me some not really brillant questions... and then gave me about 2 seconds right at the end to explain why I think I am suitable, which I thought really should have come first to give time to it?! So I really didnt have a chance to start with! Nevermind : ) |

I | Oh well, I have to agree I really don't know how the interviewer could have made that call on what was a very brief 10 mins (I think it was less) interview but good luck to those who get through. |

| | | Re: BBC looking for Wildlife Enthusiasts & Photographers From what I gathered from my time slot, the people that got shown the door, literally got shown to the door Then when inside the little room that I was asked to wait in with about 9 other people, the girl who was looking after us told us that the people who were in the little room made the next stage (I presume the second interview that happened minutes later) and the people shown the door wouldn't return. | I got the impression that they really wanted to see a raw passion for the wild and nature rather than experience of travels, photography or film. There were loads of people who took extra information (things that weren't requested to bring) like diving charts and things to show experience. I didn't take anything as the email stated to bring your passport only- so that's what I did They wanted to get an overview of the person rather than a CV. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
