Talking to some of the young usher's I was told that around 300 applicants past through the doors Friday 21st
I was lucky enough to get a second interview, a guesstimate I reckon that 50 got a second bite.

For some reason, I'm feeling really upset and anxious at the thought of actually entering this competition. I can't really afford to be paying to go to London (Ok, only £40, but that's a lot when you're saving for a flat) but I've just bought my ticket, I don't know what to wear (no doubt have to buy more clothes, which is more expense) and I'm not even so sure about the competition. I've seen the competition itself described as an 'X-Factor Style' Wildlife show, which makes me feel very depressed about it to be honest. I feel a little uneasy about it

Steady on Nick - take a couple of deep breaths and you'll be fine!

I really wouldn't worry about what you wear - they'll be much more interested in the person than the clothes and I expect that, like Stu, most people's dress will depend on what else they're doing that day before or after the interview. If it were me I wouldn't buy any clothes I wasn't planning on buying anyway.

And as for the X-Factor comparison I wouldn't read too much into that. People get lazy these days and describe things by comparison to other things. This is a reality TV show and, from what I've read, there is an element of competition involved, but I think the similarity ends there.

Try to approach the whole thing as a novel experience and not worry too much about the end result - easier said than done I know. And remember there's a lot of people who'll be rooting for you on Friday and who won't think one iota less of you if it doesn't happen.

Thanks Dave, I can justify that early night at least. I shan't buy any more clothes, and at least if I'm in Knightsbridge I've got an excuse to really (naughtily

) spend money in Harrods

I have to look at the whole thing as an experience and take it from there- I'm not worried about not getting in at all, that sort of thing doesn't phase me on a massive scale like this. I don't know why I got all anxious about it, but I feel much better now. I also just had a very satisfying moment in which I remembered that I have an incredible passion for Wildlife, and if I'm unsuccessful in this competition, there will be more- and perhaps a career in it somewhere down the line. Ok, off on a tangent but it's all relative, sort of.

So have a Mrs. Fish cake yourself for being so supportive

and another for being a good friend

Yes why not plan a trip to the natural history museam after or something after all its free to get in and fascinating inside!

Then just think of it as a diversion in the day
