| | | Killer Whales in the UK Did anyone watch this yesterday? It was a repeat but really enjoyed it. Really summed up the highs and lows of wildlife watching.
I know I'm not the only one who thinks this but Gordon Buchanan deserves his own series. |

I know I'm not the only one who thinks this but Gordon Buchanan deserves his own series. | I did watch it and agree on both counts. I was really surprised to see them hunting the Common Seals which means the pod must've been 'transient' Killer Whales (have a prefered diet of large marine mammals), rather than 'resident' or 'offshore' pods (prefer fish). It's wonderful that we have these impressive hunters of large marine 'game' around our coasts. I previously thought a trip to Patagonia was required to see such pods.

| | | Re: Killer Whales in the UK Didn't see the programme but I have seen a Killer Whale on two occasions just off the S. Devon coast. The first was leaping out of the water about 4 miles off Prawle Point in 1976 and the second was a little closer, about 2 miles, approx 20 years later. Just saw the back and dorsal fin that time (male) but only 30ft from my boat. |

I also agree that GB is excellent and should be given his own series.

| | | Re: Killer Whales in the UK Simon King has gone to live on Shetland for a year, and one of his aims is to get some good footage of killer whales. I have little doubt that in a year or so he'll dish up something special on BBC.
