| | | Gardeners World special..wildflowers For once i managed to catch a wildlife program by accident.
Gardeners World special tonight, was a pretty good hour long program by that posh bird (not Rachel ...but the bigger less pretty one?)...all about the plight or decline of our native wildlflowers! (Yes shock horror...a gardener not waffling on about exotic hideous foreign nonsense).
Was actually pretty good and drummed home the need for wildlife corridors connecting habitats...i felt a little that she was kind of making the idea of 'Rivers of flowers' to be all her idea but even so, the thinking is right, and she has got her whole village involved in planting or leaving wildflower patches and verges etc!.
Some sites were local to me too, so im guessing shes pretty close by?...was some great footage of rare orchids and other wildflowers plus the usual butterflies etc...
Im not sure if it is but maybe check the bbc iplayer if you missed it?
Dan

| | | Re: Gardeners World special..wildflowers Yes, I thought it was an excellent programme and it was interesting to learn that Sarah Raven had been interested in plants since childhood and her influence was her father who was a botanical artist.
I was also interested to see Toothwort being shown towards the end of teh programme but I have found it being parasitic amongst Hazel coppice and not on Willow as she commented? |
