| | | Re: Autumnwatch 2008 : Brownsea Island, Dorset I've only been to Brownsea Island once a few years ago, and the only thing I can remember about it (apart from the horrid boat trip ) was the very cheeky Canadian Geese they had there, we had sat on a bench eating our sandwiches, and as you do, put them on the bench while we took a drink, and while we were trying to stop about 3 of them from grabbing our grub from the front, one sneaked up un-noticed from behind and took the whole bloomin lot crafty little so n so's.
Looking forward to Autumn watch

Does anyone know if there are any plans from the Beeb to bring back Nature's Calendar? I think time-wise it followed on from Autumnwatch last year. |

| | | Re: Autumnwatch 2008 : Brownsea Island, Dorset I was luckly enough to be asked to photograph Simon King a couple of days ago at a new nature reserve on the Somerset Levels, spent a couple of hours with him.
He said that whilst Autumn watch is being filmed, he will be at:
Petworth Park for the Fallow Deer rut
Snettersham for the Knot Roost
Anglesey for the raven roost
Can`t remember where else he said he would be!
Cheers

Thanks tigger for the heads up regarding Autumnwatch. I am looking forward to this. I have visited Dorset many times before but never taken the trip over to Brownsea Island.

| | | Re: Autumnwatch 2008 : Brownsea Island, Dorset I don't believe it! I visited in June and swore I'd return in the Autumn this year with my partner. The only weekend I can make it is the weekend of the 1st and 2nd and I was wondering why I couldn't get a boat on/off the island!

| | | Re: Autumnwatch 2008 : Brownsea Island, Dorset Not really sure what you mean about not being able to get a boat as you can't usually book them anyway (You just turn up and travel). The island isn't normally open so late in the year, end of October is usually when they close (and generally on a Sunday not a Friday) so I don't know if they have extended their opening dates to cover the filming period or if this is a permanent change. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
