Just watching it at the moment - he's just had to deliver a lamb. Well done Hugh! Nice to see he can do the 'hands on'!

Taping it. Hugh's River Cottage programmes had to be one of televisions ALL TIME GREAT series. Absolutely fantastic entertainment, as well as thought provoking.

I absolutely adore Hugh. I can't think of anything else on telly that makes me actually sit down and watch it from end to end. He's got it all, nature, cooking, gardening, common sense, curly hair ...

Re: River Cottage Spring

I enjoyed the programme last night , he really has come on from his early days now having a farm manager, gardening team etc but still basically the same Hugh, I hope he's not taken too much on this time with the pigs at the council site, the water is a big problem, they could use a bowser but it still has to be filled up regularly so they still need a supply from somewhere or a very long hosepipe but if you're the source and are metered it could be interesting

Re: River Cottage Spring

I love the programme but do find it a little squeamish on occasion. Last night's was really good, made me want to get an allotment Will have to wait for retirement in a million years tho

Re: River Cottage Spring

I do like Hugh and have watched all the series so far (the first is still the best)
I do however often wonder where his wife and family are and why he has put on so much weight but that aside I will watch avidly

I'd put on weight if I were living the "good life"

I still think his best stuff ia A Cook On The Wildside, that's what goit me into mushrooms and generally foraging for wild stuff.

Big thumbs up from me for the programme last night, can't wait till next Wednesday, Hugh I LOVE you!!

Re: River Cottage Spring

There was a little blonde boy with him at one point when he was on the allotment and I think that is his son. Perhaps his wife is glad to get rid of him.

I like the programme because it is so full on with showing pictures of the offal and such like, he is brave enough to show it as it really is instead of dumbing down for the public who think that meat appears in plastic containers on supermarket shelves.

Yeah, I think he's called Oscar? His wife is French, that's some totally rubbish info for you!

Re: River Cottage Spring

I watched the repeat last night on More4. I really think that all the other cooking programmes should be stopped and just let Hugh's be shown. He has so much passion for all that is home grown/reared.

Can't wait till part two next week.

Re: River Cottage Spring

Can't believe it was the last episode last night it's gone very quick, I have really enjoyed the series, I hope the people of Bristol keep the smallholding going, they said last night they were going to get some turkeys next so it looks promising, I thought the lady who decided to show the pig was very brave taking it on as they arn't the best of animals to control and deserved all the rosettes they won, from best turned out pig to grumpiest pig

Re: River Cottage Spring

I really like Hugh, the human waste diposal unit. Is there anything the man won't eat or drink. His programmes are also educational and yes I agree his "Cook on the Wildside" was brilliant.
