When DA is not available I'm okay with Chris Packham or Miranda Krestovnikoff and I thought Bill Bailey did a reasonably good job with Wild Thing, I love You last year. But then Bill is a woodland creature himself so it's only natural that he would have a strong affinity with his subjects.

also go for Simon King...
its a given that attenborough is the best...but im thinking longer term/future or in terms of a replacement and i really dont think titmarsh should be it...he doesnt have the real wildlife/ecology background knowledge of the others.
ok...and the bit you wanted me to say...yes...the one shows ELLIE HARRISON presenter/egologist is as cute as the wildlife industry has ever witnessed ....and the Humble doesnt do too bad either.

David Attenborough has been the presenter of choice for decades and I personally would agree with that, however Simon King has for me a place of his own in this field, being presenter, film maker and cameraman, in one package has to be a tremendous feat, as I believe he does all of these superbly.

I would agree that Britain's environment is special in exactly the same way that every environment in every country of the world is special for the plants, animals and people that live there. As for being unique, just about everything that Alan pointed to in support of that claim New Zealand either matches us or beats us in.
Frankly it started to sound jingoistic. Using the word "special" to mean "better than Johnny Foreigner". I started to think "If I were a visitor to Britain watching this, how irritated would I be?" and the answer was "quite a bit." But perhaps that's just me.

Dave P. | I certainly see your point Dave. However, I have been fortunate enough to do a fair bit of wildlife watching abroad and the wildlife and landscapes I have seen have been absolutely brilliant. But for me personally, I just get more pleasure from seeing British wildlife in British landscapes. I can't explain it, it's just a natural reaction. So, for that reason I do think think that Britain is best!

| | | Re: Favourite TV Wildlife Presenter I think the thread should have been called Favourite Wildlife Presenter thats not David Attenborough.....because its pretty much a given that we all...and even non WAB'ers would choose Sir David...but the reality is he is bloomin old and he wont be with us much longer....so who of the new younger set is your fave?...or the most natural to follow Sir David?.....and NO ITS NOT bloomin titmarsh....We need people with serious wildlife/ecology knowledge...and who dont kind of make everything fluffy like titmarsh and Bill Oddie do....i dont want pranks and impressions and johnny norris voices and nonsense ....I grew out of Animal magic by about the age of 7
So still for me its the likes of Chris Packham, Simon King, Nick Baker etc who do the job well.

The ratio of cooking programmes to gardening programs is surely 15:3 . Hows about i hate to say it but could actually work, a Celebratey Garden Design - Come Gardening or something along the lines?
Attenborough paved the way. Irwin was a legend and Simon King wheres the hat in my opinion.

The others have a long way to go before they catch him. However Simon King is well on his way, very knowledgeable and cares about his wildlife. I to remember him as a kid.

Sorry Paul you misunderstood what im saying ...I along with you and everyone else would clearly choose Sir David...so my point was than rather have an un interesting thread of 55 people saying...yep...Sir David...how about we take him out of the equation as the obvious star choice and see who out of the new breed comes on top?...you get me?
