| | | Great British Journeys Has anyone been watching this series? I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I reckon Nicholas Crane is a pretty decent presenter as well. I was particularly pleased when one of my local hills (Blackstone Edge, in Lancs) featured on the Celia Feinnes episode.

| | | Re: Great British Journeys I have watched a couple of episodes and it's quite interesting. Nicholas Crane certainly does get enthusiastic about what he's talking about!!

| | | Re: Great British Journeys Yes, I've been watching it regularly, though I managed to miss last week's episode. I think it's very good and have really enjoyed it. I really liked Nicholas Crane's earlier series 'Map Man' as well. |

| | | Re: Great British Journeys Yes 'Map Man' was great as well. If you ever get chance I recommend a book he wrote a few years ago, 'Still Waters Rising'. It describes a colossal walk he did, from the Spanish Atlantic coast, through the mountainous regions of Europe, finishing up in Istanbul.

| | | Re: Great British Journeys Thanks Chris, I'll look out for that - I got a book token for my birthday, and was already considering getting something by Nicholas Crane.
I remember that walk anyway, as he regularly reported on it in the Daily Telegraph as he did it. I think that's right, or maybe they just serialised bits of the book - but I do remember reading it in the paper. |

| | | Re: Great British Journeys Ah, Umbrella Man! I enjoy watching whatever he does on TV - he always seems so enthusiastic, although in the present series I was a bit cross to see him riding a bicycle along a Public Footpath in one episode. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
