Another one to watch with the sound off?

In The Times today there is a preview of new series coming to TV this autumn amongst which is a series called The Nature of Britain. Sounds good so far, but then I read on...

It's on BBC1 and presented by Alan Titchmarsh.

So another dumbed-down, patronising piece of celebrity-centric fluff is on the way. At least it's a BBC production so the pictures should be good.

If the programme reaches a few thousand people and gives them a new awareness
of the state of our wildlife I would be very happy
The problem is people see these programmes and imagine that there is a huge reserve
of wildlife out there beyond their own local area and are lulled into complacency

I know what you mean about titmarsh but i like the look of this series...i enjoyed the British Isles one...and can take him in small doses.

This is already a book out to accompany this series i believe?

supposedly this is going to be a good effort. its structured a lot like the natural history of the british isles series, 50minutes of national stuff and then a 10minute local slot. i've heard good things about it, and even though mr titchmarsh does tick me off a bit sometimes, i'm still gonna watch it, as usually the beeb does a good job.
