New Bill Oddie series on TV

I know there are mixed views about Mr O but a new series is being filmed for BBC2 ....

Oddie hosts new wildlife series

Mind you, we will have to wait a while .... it is not going out until 2008.

Richard

Nice one! Something decent to look forward to in 08 then.

I didn't realise Mr O was 66! Wildlife keeps you young then(not that 66 is old, you understand)

Re: New Bill Oddie series on TV

Sounds good as long as he doesn't rattle on so much that he turns it into an Oddie show, like spring watch. He and Humble seem more important in them selves than showing us wildlife.

I like Bill Oddie - until he tries to be funny. If only he would let others speak - Kate Humble rarely gets a sentence out before Bill butts in.

Re: New Bill Oddie series on TV

I have met Mr O on a couple of occasions and he is a real gent. He has his problems and depressions but by and large he has brought the world of birding to the masses where others have failed.

His style doesn't suit everyone, then again whose style does, but you have to hand it to him. There are a lot of people out there that have been switched onto wildlife because of him.

John

Re: New Bill Oddie series on TV

Bill Oddie is OK. Like Bellamy, Palin and Rhys-Jones and others he's quirky but all have increased interest in subjects which were largely ignored and have made people think and be concerned. It can only be good when education is made interesting, particularly for younger folk.

Great, I like Bill and Simon, not so sure about Kate though, she just seems to be the eye candy on springwatch and I've never seen her add much knowledge wise.

Bill Oddie was born on the street in Rochdale where my mum lives!

Re: New Bill Oddie series on TV

As much as some people seem to have a problem with Bill Oddie (goodness don't metion his name down at the local nature reserve or you open up a tyrade of grumblings and accusations) I like him.

He and Springwatch have probably switched more 'non wildlife' people onto wildlife in the UK and doing something for it than anyone.

So I for one will be looking forward to it and sometimes a lighthearted Silly Bill approach probably makes it all a bit more accessible for people.
