That was Patrick Roper and you can find out more (and contact him) via his weblogs:

Feel free to ask any questions you like either via comments or email. As you would have heard, he's keen to see other people take up square metres in order to compare notes and generally see what differences there are in different areas.

i agree about the footage of wild life but the inane comentary drives me bonkers, I normally resort to turning the sound off but this deprives me of the noises the animals make etc- I wish there was a red button function to turn the comtrary off but retain the background noise. (this would also be great for footie , rugby , and any other programme that involves a nonentity spouting ego enhancing drivel other otherwise exceptional footage)

also while kate is a pretty girl , and there are (alledgedly) those that find bill and simon attractive , why cant they keep the flipping camera on the wildlife , i want to watch the wildlife - not watch bill-kate-si watching it !
Yep I agree - the man I love to hate - and have to suffer on a weekly basis unless I can get out of earshot is Alan Hanson (sports lovers will know who I mean) he is the most boring sounding insufferable man - he could bore for England - I cannot abide the man

Re: Springwatch

I wonder if Bill and Kate are members of WAB? This year I have not noticed any of the subtle dislike for each other and thought they seemed posistivly chummy. I wonder if they have been reading the threads and have done their best to put the tittle-tattle to bed? I would love to think they and Chris Packham were members here, and we brush shoulders with them regularly
Another great series - with a nice variation of items. Well done Springwatch.

Re: Springwatch

As a side note, I live about 15 miles from the Springwatch site in Devon and drove past the other day - amazing the amount of gear, there is a field full of Lorries, Trailers and Caravans.

Surely he'd have to bore for Scotland? Other than that, no argument from me!

Re: Springwatch

I thought it was funny that bit at the end where they said 'of course we like each other' and then pretended to fight.
