Suspect this is a cypress of some sort, maybe even Lawson's Cypress Chamaecyparis lawsoniana which has loads of cultivars. |

1. Think this is a juniper as it feels spikey to the touch and has sharp juvenile leaves and scale leaves.
2. Leyland Cypress (probably) cone (and leaf close-up):

Junipers don't get that big. By the time they're a a couple of meters high they get very straggly. In growth habit, they look a bit like gorse.
