| | | White Poplar? I was wondering if someone could confirm if this is White Poplar. It is white underneath. Not sure if there are any other confusion species. My problem is that the rolled corners are leaf cones but few moths species feed on White Poplar.
Thanks,
Paul |

| | | Re: White Poplar? The leaves of White Poplar can be very similar to Grey Poplar but are generally whiter beneath and more downy on the young twigs. There are also several hybrids that can confuse.
So I'd say your tree is probably White Poplar - Populus alba. The trunks of White Poplar have very distinctive 'diamond' marks.

| | | Re: White Poplar? Thanks for the tip. I'll pop down and have a look at the trunk. It was a very young tree only about 5ft tall.
Cheers,

Certainly worth a look.
