hi guys can anybody tell me what tree this is from ? the bud is not sticky and the trees bark was grey/brown with deep ridges

someone on another site said it could be hornbeam, i got it last sunday in shotley, suffolk
does this help ?

Sorry, not enough of it - the bark of the main tree trunk would be more useful! Nor enough habitat detail, as others have said. Yes, seems most likely to be a willow Salix or poplarPopulus] but don't rule out a lime Tilia. I'll say it's not a beech, ash, horse chestnut, alder &c &c &c! - you really need to take more photos of different aspects, especially at this time of year ......

ok i will get another twig and take photos,i am trying to do this to alot of trees and eventually build up a little field guide with twigs and leaves stuck on
