| | | Re: Tree bud ID help the first bud is defenately NOT a hormbeam, athey look like really tiny beech buds , its a popular. and the 2nd photo looks like a sweet chestnut as there are 3 lines from the leaf scar |

leon | I think the Almond has a similar bark,but there are two native cherries

| | | Re: Tree bud ID help The first bud I would say at first glance was Beech but the buds seem too close together :\ the bud is too bulleted to be Poplar and is not sticky. The beech has the bulleted buds and that colouration and the bark is a greyish colour and can ridge when more mature....hmmm |

I have seen green/coppery cases in beech in shrubs though but not this time of year...hmmm....maybe we all need to go on a mass trip to see the tree  heehee! |

| | | Re: Tree bud ID help Hi Leon If you could tell us where the stuff comes from (woodland hedgerow garden) and the height and width of any trees or shrubs it would help in identification as would a photo of the parent tree or shrub it would benefit your own records also
