This lovely shrub/small tree has one of the longest latin names there is- Acer palmatum var. dissectum atropurpureum .
A very long-lived plant, and will take many years to reach its best. Likes a sheltered spot.

On National history museum page it was suggested Acer japonicum/FullmonJapanese Maple or Acer Garnett naed as well JapaneseAcer.
Will have to google them all & Try to decide. |

There are now a number of varieties of this Japanese Cut-leaved Maple, (Acer), often very similar.
I have grown many of them.
