| | Dunkeld Larch? Hi all,
grateful for help with this from todays wanderings - right next to European Larch with pink female flowers, this had only green flowers, no pink.
Is it the hybrid natural cross with Japanese Larch, called L. Marschlinsii?
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: Dunkeld Larch? Hi Ken. The Larch hybrid Larix x marschlinsii (L. decidua x kaempferi) normally has reddish-purple (female) flowers. European Larch has red flowers and Japanese Larch has greenish-yellow flowers.
I would guess that your plant is Japanese Larch which is commonly planted in woodlands and forest's, though albino (green) flowers do sometimes occur on the European Larch, just to confuse the issue!

| | | Re: Dunkeld Larch? Hi Dorts, excellent, I knew you'd know - I couldnt find whether Japanese had green flowers, so with your info, I agree, Japanese it is.
(the shape is just a tad different too)
Thanks a lot again.
Cheers
Ken
