Please could someone kindly identify the tree shown here. The leaves were quite small, about 7.5cm in length and the the tree not huge, though very overshadowed by others.

How about Cherry Plum, Prunus cerasifera? |

Thanks aeshna! Hmm, it might be. I might have to re-visit the tree to check. That's a good suggestion. The closest I got was grey alder.

You were right. It is a grey alder - Alnus incana
