| | | Tree for ID help, beautiful smelling blossom. I saw this tree in the hills to the west of Carrbridge on Monday, near a ruined cottage. The scent from the blossom was absolutely gorgeous, sweet without being sickly. The flowers have started to die back, but I think they were a creamy-white colour. I'd love to know what it is, I'd consider growing one in my garden, but it was huge, over 30 feet tall.

| | | Re: Tree for ID help, beautiful smelling blossom. This maybe a Silver Lime Tilia tomentosa, as they flower later in the year than the native Limes. The nectar from Silver Limes can be narcotic for bees, which can sometimes be found with a hangover (or worse) at the base of the tree! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
