Gall for ID
This is one of those times you wonder which section to put this in. The structure is clearly part of the Oak tree but the cause is an insect.

Can anyone please help me ID this Gall?

Hi Pete.

Looks like a Knopper gall caused by the Gall Wasp Andricus quercuscalicis.

Hi Peter.
It's a Knopper Gall caused by the Gall Wasp - Andricus quercuscalicis .

Thank you both for your ID. I was fascinated by this structure. I believe it is an Oak Apple which has been modified.
