| | | tree stump under lawn Had a small tree growing out of our newly turfed garden as we've just moved in, and we didn't want it, cut it down, then I wanted to turf that spot, dug down a little and I now realise it was just branches growing out of the site of the stump.
can anyone suggest what I should do as I don't want to lay a piece of turf in teh gap only to find it happens again!
here are a couple of shots: |

| | | Re: tree stump under lawn You could have it ground by the professionals.Use a crow bar to remove. But that is a lot of effort and a bad back.Try to kill it off with a product .Bayer garden stump killer 3 sachets of systemic weedkiller. Main ingrediant is Glyphosate. Product costs about £4.64 |

| | | Re: tree stump under lawn That sounds like a good option and cheaper I guess than soneone grinding it out?
Just wondering, if I pour the liquid on it, can I just put top soil over and then grass seeds? Or is there a certain amount of timing?
Thanks! |

| | | Re: tree stump under lawn Just picked some up so going to try it. My concern is if it will kill that grass around it?
My thinking is that I might drill a few holes in the stump and then paint on? Then cover with top soil and sew the grass seeds or maybe a piece of turf? |

| | | Re: tree stump under lawn Hi the count, welcome to WAB. Not the best introduction all this advice about using poisons. If turfing over it isn't going to result in a bump then just do this. Mow over it for a season it should soon stop throwing up suckers. If it does make a lump and it looks as though it might, attack it with an axe. I had one I lowered with a saw, but an axe would probably be easier. Breaking up the surface will help it to rot down. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
