Can anyone identify what tree these catkins are from? Both pictures were taken on the 12/4/2010. The nearest I've found is Elm but I'm not sure as the leaves don't look right to me. Sorry I haven't a picture of the leaves but I can get one If It helps. |

I've looked long and hard at your tree pics. and I'm convinced that it is a species of Ash - Fraxinus. Which one I'm not sure yet. So many new kinds of amenity trees are finding their way here lately, it is difficult to keep pace with them.
Hope that helps, and may get other looking for the Species.

May be an Ash, true, but I'm leaning towards a Maple , Acer spp, leaves look a bit more like one of the unusual ones, davidii, ginnala etc, but I'm not familiar with them, so anyones else?
Cheers
Ken
