| | | Identify Fruit Tree - Plum? Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can please identify this tree, it sits outside my house producing fruit every year and I've no idea whether it's edible or not! It seems such a waste.
I've attached a photo.
The fruit is quite hard, smells kind of 'plummy' and tastes quite bitter.

| | | Re: Identify Fruit Tree - Plum? It's Cherry Plum ( Prunus cerasifera) (or Myrobalan, whichever name you prefer...) of the cultivar "Pissardii". Quite a common species in towns and gardens, but always planted. And, yes, the fruit is edible |

Can anyone help identify what type of fruit tree I have?
Its a plum tree of sorts (i think) and the tree is around 30-40 feet in height.
Attached are a few photos of the leaves and fruit.

| | | Re: Identify Fruit Tree - Plum? Do the fruit on a greengage turn in colour as they now seem to be turning a pink colour? So I am thinking it is not a greengage after all. Also when is best to pick the fruit as I do not want it to be wasted.
Thanks everyone |

| | | Re: Identify Fruit Tree - Plum? Greengage fruits go from green to a dirty brown and then their passed it. Best time to pick your plums is before the wasps get there and they fall. Inspect near the stone for the plum moth caterpillar, tiny pink thing with a grey head. Cheers, Tony. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
