| | | Re: hairy bud help! Well I'm no tree or shrub person, birds are more in my line but this looks like a Horse Chestnut bud to me.
I may be wrong though. |

| | | Re: hairy bud help! Yep, give me birds anyday too - but I dont think its horse chestnut, looks totally wrong for that, including it had many upward shoots rather than a strong central stem and wasnt pollarded etc, cheers Ollie, grateful!

| | | Re: hairy bud help! Hello,
It's definately Aesculus spp (Horse hestnut). They have upwards shoots and, incidentally, are rarely pollarded as they have poor response to any heavy pruning.
What does "medium bush size" mean?
Regards

| | | Re: hairy bud help! OK, thanks guys, and apologies roger!
Perhaps the 'a' I mentioned was for Aesculus............
Still not quite totally convinced about pure horse chestnut but what do I know - maybe one of the hybrids, such as red, or perhaps A indica??
But thanks again.
By medium bush, just thought I'd try and give an idea of size, about 8ft high.
Cheers
Ken
