| | | winter tree ID hello
i'm starting a little project where i'm gathering cuttings from various trees to see if i can grow some on of my own. i've already got a couple of little trees which i've had for a few years in pots, but now i'm expanding my collection.
i've got a couple which i got yesterday and was wondering if anyone could help me id them
the first one i think is goat willow, i've got another one which i got a while ago and i think its the same
as for the second one i couldn't really ID it properly, nearest i got was small leaved lime but i'm not convinced
any help would be appreciated |

| | | Re: winter tree ID cheers i've just realised my mistake about the first one as it has opposite buds, which is wrong for goat willow(or any willow for that matter) i'm a bit dubious about it being sycamore though as the buds aren't green as they are for sycamore. it must be a kind of maple though. |

| | | Re: winter tree ID I grew a snip of Yew tree - I found it by a path and it had a heel, so I put it into a small propagator in a cool place and left it apart from a little water from time to time. It took ages to start growing, but is now a ten foot high tree in my friends garden. A lot of very interesting tiny ferns and mosses grew alongside it and I left those around it when it had to be potted on.

Don't see what else the first can be unless a hybrid of some sort.

| | | Re: winter tree ID Hello,
I would agree with A.platanoides but does not look like S.caprea (goat willow). I would wait for a couple of months to see the leaves.
