Could someone tell me what this is please?

It was near Buckland, between Aylesbury and Tring.

Looks like one of the Vale of Aylesbury Black Poplars Populus nigra betulifolia.

Thanks poschiavanus - that was obviously the answer I was hoping to get!

I thought it might be, as the path I was on was part of the Aylebury Ring long-distance path, close to a spot where the guide book said there were Black Poplars.
